Johnson was one of the curators who collected Julia Child’s home kitchen in 2001 and led the team that created FOOD: Transforming the American Table\, a multi-layered exhibition that explores the major changes in food production\, distribution\, and consumption in the United States since the 1950s. She has shaped and contributed to many public programs on food history and leads the annual “Food History Weekend.” Johnson is the author of many articles and three books\, including Julia Child’s Kitchen: The Design\, Tools Stories\, and Legacy of an Iconic Space (2024). She received the Smithsonian Distinguished Scholar in the Humanities Award in 2020. \n\n\n\nJohnson began her museum career at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons\, Maryland\, and has worked at the Smithsonian since 1991. She is a member of the Association for the Study of Food and Society and Les Dames d’ Escoffier. She serves on the editorial collective for Gastronomica: The Journal for Food Studies.

That’s why there’s a chili cook-off! \n\n\n\nAdditional Rules:– Pies must be baked from scratch (no store-bought crust!) and based in a 9” – 10” pie plate/pan. Each pie must include a cover.– Contestants must prepare two pies of each type entered and can enter up to three types of pie.– Ice cream and whipped cream may be served as an accompaniment.– The Chamber will provide plates\, bowls\, and forks or spoons for serving.– Contestants will serve their own product. DESCRIPTION:June 30 | 5 pm  |  Orcas Adventist Fellowship Church \n\n\n\n     —PARDESSUS DE VIOLE\, FLUTE & GUITAR   · Annalisa Pappano\, pardessus de viol and treble viol   · William Simms\, baroque guitar and theorbo   · Jeffrey Cohan\, baroque flute \n\n\n\n The French royal court musical establishment generated a vast amount of music\, to be represented by works of Jean-Baptiste Lully\, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre\, Marin Marais\, Jacques Hotteterre and others. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Salish Sea Early Music Festival has since 2011 provided world class period instrument performances of chamber music\, both familiar and rarely or never before heard in modern times\, withmusicians from Europe and all around the Puget Sound\, the United States and Canada who are among the finest in their field around the globe. \n\n\n\nEntrance is by donation and the concerts have always been open to allregardless of contribution. The Salish Sea Early Music Festival and is anon-profit 501c3 organization and has been granted affiliate status byEarly Music America\, which develops\, strengthens\, and celebrates earlymusic and historically informed performance in North America.
