DESCRIPTION:The San Juan Island Artists’ Studio Tour is a free\, self-guided tour celebrating the island’s robust artist community. Always the first full weekend in June\, the Studio Tour takes attendees on an adventure\, leading them off the beaten tourist path\, weaving through back roads to remote pockets of the island. While visitors will surely come across the many popular island destinations along the way\, the Studio Tour offers a rare opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the island\, discover the artwork it inspires and meet the artists behind the art.  \n\n\n\nThe Studio Tour is the perfect way to experience all the island has to offer before the peak summer season begins. Artist studios are often unique and quirky\, ranging from small home studios to large shared\, coworking spaces and everything in between – small outbuildings\, outdoor kilns\, large historic barns and repurposed industrial spaces that provide communal access to tools and equipment. Many host studios will also feature guest artists\, offering a rare opportunity to experience multiple artistic voices at the same time.  \n\n\n\nFounded in 1991\, the studio tour was created by island artists who wanted to open their studios for one special weekend each year – offering the public glimpses into their workspaces and artistic lives to connect with the creative process firsthand. In late 2024\, the artists officially formed San Juan Island Artists\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While the Studio Tour remains our primary focus\, this milestone supports the continued growth and future impact of the island’s artistic community. \n\n\n\nThis year the tour features 68 participating island artists & 26 Studio stops on the map\, making it one of the most extensive tours to date! DESCRIPTION:Irene Roldán\n\n\n\nJune 6  | 12:30 PM | St. David’s Episcopal Church  | 780 Park Street |  Friday Harbor |San Juan Island.  \n\n\n\nJeffrey Cohan\n\n\n\nSpanish harpsichordist Irene Roldán from Basel\, Switzerland and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan present“Bach & Jacquet”\, a program celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach and French composers whoseinfluence he benefited from\, including Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre\, Louis Couperin and PancraceRoyer\, in the seventh 2026 Salish Sea Early Music Festival program. \n\n\n\nBorn 20 years before Johann Sebastian Bach and a favorite composer of Louis XIV\, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre made many important innovations in her compositions both for solo keyboard and in thedevelopment of the cantata\, all the while juxtaposing and integrating the distinct French and Italian styles\, all of which set the stage for compositional techniques and forms that Bach was later to use extensively and develop further.  \n\n\n\nThe program will include the sonatas in E Major and G Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach as well as heperformers’ transcription for flute of Bach’s violin sonata in C Minor\, a Sonata in D Major by Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and harpsichord solos including Jacquet de La Guerre’s Prélude in D Minor\, La Zaïde by Pancrace Royer\, and the Suite in F Major by Louis Couperin. \n\n\n\nThis concert\, presented in collaboration with St. David’s Episcopal Church\, takes place on Saturday\, June 6 at 12:30 PM at St. David’s Episcopal Church at 780 Park Street in Friday Harbor onSan Juan Island.  \n\n\n\nAdmission is by a suggested donation (a free will offering) of $20 to $30. Those 18 &under are free. All are welcome regardless of donation. For additional information please seewww.salishseafestival.org/sanjuan. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT IRENE ROLDÁN:Award-winning harpsichordist Irene Roldán was born in southern Spain in 1997. Described by the press as one of the most prominent Spanish harpsichordists on the international scene (ABC Sevilla)\, Irene currently lives and works in Basel\, Switzerland. She gained international recognition in 2021\, when she won first prize\, never previously awarded in this competition\, as well as the audience prize at the III. \n\n\n\nInternational Harpsichord Competition «Città di Milano». In the same year\, her ensemble Flor Galantesecured the first prize at the IV. International Bach Competition in Berlin. One year later\, Irene washonored with the prestigious Bach Prize and an additional special award at the XXXIII. International Bach Competition held in Leipzig\, Germany. \n\n\n\nIrene cultivated a profound passion for the harpsichord when she was 7 years old and has studied inSpain\, the Netherlands and Switzerland with Jacques Ogg\, Menno van Delft\, Andrea Marcon and JörgAndreas Bötticher. She currently works as a teaching assistant to Prof. Andrea Marcon and accompanist at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel\, Switzerland. \n\n\n\nShe has performed as a soloist at renowned festivals and venues in Europe and North America\, including the Utrecht Early Music Festival\, FEMÁS\, Urbino Musica Antica\, Fundación Juan March and Roma Festival Barocco. A sought-after ensemble musician\, Irene has collaborated with La CetraBarockorchester Basel and other prestigious ensembles\, such as the Venice Baroque Orchestra\,Kammerorchester Basel\, La Folia Barockorchester\, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla\, Syntagma Amici\, LaCentifolia\, Voces Suaves\, and Castello Consort\, among others. Irene’s enthusiasm for opera led her toserve as Andrea Marcon’s musical assistant for a 2024 production of Handel’s Alcina at Teatro de laMaestranza in Sevilla. \n\n\n\nIrene is dedicated to researching and reviving Spanish music from the 16th to 18th centuries\, with a focus on Francisco Correa de Arauxo and the works of Domenico Scarlatti and his contemporaries. This led to her first solo album\, Scarlatti & Beyond\, released in May 2025 with Passacaille Records
