SUMMARY:September 1: The Democracy We Must Keep: Why the Ideas that Built America Still Matter with David O. Stewart
DESCRIPTION:Award-Winning Historian and Bestselling Author of Impeached and The Summer of 1787Tuesday\, September 1\, 2026 | 11 AM | VIRTUAL \n\n\n\nREGISTER \n\n\n\nJoin us as we chat with award-winning historian David O. Stewart about his newest work\, The Democracy We Must Keep\, and the question he explores throughout the book: What did America’s founders say about democracy\, and can we remain true to their vision for America? \n\n\n\nTwo hundred fifty years ago\, passionate men attempted to create something the world had never seen before: a nation built not on kings or armies\, but on ideas where the people ruled. \n\n\n\nIn The Democracy We Must Keep\, historian David O. Stewart takes readers inside the nine key documents that shaped the formation of the United States—from Patrick Henry’s thunderous cry for liberty to the carefully crafted design of a government chosen by the people\, with limits on all officials holding power under the Constitution. \n\n\n\nThrough the words of seven visionary founders—Washington\, Jefferson\, Madison\, Hamilton\, Gouverneur Morris\, and others—Stewart shows how a fragile experiment in self-government took shape. \n\n\n\nThese men were not saints. They argued passionately. They worried that the new nation might fall apart. Yet together\, they forged the principles that must still define American democracy: \n\n\n\n\nPower must be limited.\n\n\n\nLeaders must answer to the people.\n\n\n\nIndividual rights must be protected by law.\n\n\n\n\nAs the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary\, The Democracy We Must Keep urges readers to rediscover core ideas that built the nation—and to consider what it will take to protect them. \n\n\n\nRegister today to gain a deeper understanding of how American democracy started\, why it still matters\, and the active role each generation must play to uphold it. \n\n\n\nAbout the Author: \n\n\n\nDavid O. Stewart has published eleven award-winning and best-selling books of history and historical novels. In 2023\, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Washington Independent Review of Books. His most recent fictional series\, the Overstreet Saga\, is inspired by family stories his mother told. He lives in Maryland with the light of his life\, Nancy Floreen; they have three children and six grandchildren.

SUMMARY:September 26: Simon Llewelyn Evans at San Juan Vineyards
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 26\, 2026 | 6:00 PM  8:00 PM | San Juan Vineyard  \n\n\n\nSimon Llewelyn Evans is an Australian singer-songwriter whose evocative storytelling and haunting melodies set him apart as a singular voice in contemporary folk music. He has been hailed as “a case apart\, a special phenomenon” (Rootstime Magazine\, Belgium). His debut album soared to the #2 spot on the Australian folk charts\, establishing him as a formidable talent in the genre. \n\n\n\nHis music is a raw exploration of the human experience\, delving into themes of sexuality\, loss\, death\, spirituality\, and the intricate dance of relationships. His songwriting is deeply shaped by a life lived across vast landscapes\, from the sunburnt earth of Australia to the remote beauty of the Fijian islands. Now based in Western Washington\, on the ancestral lands of the Nooksack\, Lummi\, and other Coast Salish peoples\, he finds new inspiration in the mist-laden forests and rugged coastline of the Pacific Northwest. \n\n\n\nHe continues to perform throughout the Pacific Northwest in support of his latest album\, Something Real\, a collection of songs that push the boundaries of folk music with poetic lyricism and intimate\, soul-stirring performances. His work continues to captivate audiences\, cementing his place as a standout voice in modern folk. \n\n\n\nThis event is outdoors with limited seating. Outside food\, picnic blankets\, and low-profile lawn chairs are welcome. \n\n\n\nFOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM FOR EVENT UPDATES.
