Sign up to participate HERE! \n\n\n\nThe Orcas Island Community Picnic Chili Cook-Off will occur on Friday\, July 3\, 2026\, on the Village Green. \n\n\n\nA $25 entry fee is required for each category of chili entered by a contestant. 100% of all fees and donations go towards the Chamber’s Fourth of July fund. Entry fee is payable the day of the contest by cash\, Venmo\, or check. OR\, if you would like to pay online\, there will be in a link provided in the next step to pay via credit card. \n\n\n\nRegistration form is due by *Monday\, June 30\, at 5pm*. \n\n\n\nPrepayment is okay. Checks can be dropped on the porch of the Visitor’s Center in the black lock box. A $25 entry fee is required for each type of pie entered by each contestant. 100% of all fees and donations go towards the Fourth of July fund. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION FORM is due by Friday\, June 26 at 5pm. \n\n\n\nYou can email or drop off your registration at the Chamber office (dropbox outside). \n\n\n\nAny type of pie is welcome: blueberry\, rhubarb\, buckeye\, single-crust\, double-crust\, pecan . . . anything except savory meat pies. That’s why there’s a chili cook-off! \n\n\n\nAdditional Rules:– Pies must be baked from scratch (no store-bought crust!) and based in a 9” – 10” pie plate/pan. Each pie must include a cover.– Contestants must prepare two pies of each type entered and can enter up to three types of pie.– Ice cream and whipped cream may be served as an accompaniment.– The Chamber will provide plates\, bowls\, and forks or spoons for serving.– Contestants will serve their own product. DESCRIPTION:Run with the Pack 5k\, 10k & Fun Run\n\n\n\nWe are so excited for the second annual Run with the Pack 5k\, 10k\, & Fun Run. Choose from a 1-mile Village Loop or scenic 5K and 10K down-and-back courses featuring waterfront views and gentle terrain.  \n\n\n\nRaces will begin July 4th at 8:30am. Start/Finish lines are at Lopez Park in the center of the village of Tower Rd.  \n\n\n\nWe will have registration July 3rd from 4-6 pm and the morning of July 4th at Village Park (265 Lopez Road). Registration will close at 8:15 am July 4. Parking is in the village is limited – please plan to carpool or park early! \n\n\n\nCost: \n\n\n\n1 Mile Fun Run/ Walk $10 \n\n\n\n5K $20 \n\n\n\n10k $30 \n\n\n\nKids under 12 are FREE \n\n\n\nT-shirts are available for $20ea \n\n\n\nWe encourage you to have fun and wear your neons OR your red white and blue! Prizes this year for best costumes!  \n\n\n\nHosted by The Lopez Pack\, Lopez Island’s sports booster club\, this event raises funds to support school athletics and youth sports programs across the island.

DESCRIPTION:The theme for the 4th of July Parade – Cheers to 250 years!The 4th of July Parade will be held on Saturday\, July 4th at 10:30 a.m. (depending on the ferry). We ask that All floats/entries be decorated to reflect the spirit of Independence Day and/or this year’s theme. All applications must be submitted by email to: becki@sanjuanisland.org or brought to the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce\, 165 1st St S. \n\n\n\nImportant Date to Remember: June 24\, 2026 is the last day to submit parade applications and description changes. \n\n\n\nPARADE AWARDS:We value the uniqueness of our community. It is our community\, our unique history and our culture thatvisitors come to San Juan Island to experience. We challenge each parade applicant to think about how theycan amp it up and engage with the crowd.-How can you innovate\, create and tell your story?-Remember\, our community consists of people of all ages and cultures \n\n\n\n\nhow will your parade entry speak to them all?To honor your work\, this year we will be giving awards in the following categories: $600 Best use of THEME – Float $400 Best use of THEME – Non-Float $300 Best use of THEME – Children/Youth $300 Judges Special Choice $200 In honor of plastic free Salish Sea-≥float that has reused the most plastic on their entry $200 Best Animal/Animal Group $100 Best VehicleCATEGORIES & APPLICATION FEESSAFETY IS ALWAYS A PRIORITY DURING THE PARADE:It is mandatory that each parade entrant identify a safety monitor who will be required to walk alongside theentry and help keep the pace of the parade and ensure the safety of spectators. Safety monitors must be 18years of age or older. For larger entries we suggest 2 safety monitors. This position will be the main contactperson for your entry\, who is expected to communicate the parade information to your entry participants andto supervise the smooth and efficient operation of the parade from the staging/lineup area\, through theparade route. Know the parade rules for your entry and ensure compliance. The entry’s monitor is to beavailable to parade officials for relaying information to your entry in the staging area and along the paraderoute. Make sure the entry number\, which is given at registration on the day of the event\, is to be properlyplaced on your entry in the front right corner. Keep your entry together and organized in the staging area.Accompany your entry during the parade. Control entry speed on the parade route to maintain a 20-30 footinterval between your entry and units before and after. If a gap develops\, safely close it up. Ensure the safetyof your entry and entry participants. Be safe!****A representative for your entry will be signing the liability waiver for your group.CONSTRUCTION AND SAFETYAll entries must be constructed in a manner that ensures they are safe to operate and will not present a safetyconcern to other participants and spectators. The Parade Committee may remove an entry for safetyconsiderations at any time including\, but not limited to\, during the staging of floats.OPERATION:Only persons with valid driver’s licenses are permitted to operate or assist in the operation of motorizedvehicles. All non-motorized entries (foot traffic\, bikes\, wagons\, etc.) must be under control at all times andable to keep up with the pace of the parade. Weaving\, swerving and irresponsible driving are strictlyprohibited.SAFETY REGULATIONS:\n\n\n\n\n\nAll motorized vehicles must have working brakes. Brake checks must be administered prior to the paradestart.\n\n\n\nNothing may be thrown from the entries. Candy and flags are acceptable to be handed out\, just notthrown. No paper or advertisements are to be handed out.\n\n\n\nAlcohol is strictly prohibited on all entries.\n\n\n\nParticipants are to be respectful of spectators.\n\n\n\nChildren must be supervised by an adult at all times.\n\n\n\nIf your float/entry includes animals\, you must make arrangements to clean up all animal droppings as youproceed along the parade route. Droppings left on the road are a hazard for following floats/entries. Failure todo so will result in expulsion from this year’s parade and future parades.DIMENSIONS & DESCRIPTIONS:Dimensions and a description of your entry\, including how it relates to the 4th of July ParadeSpirit and Theme must be included with the application. The announcer’s scripts will be what you write!Include your entry’s total combined length of all vehicles (including the appropriate spacing between vehicles)so we can allow the appropriate space for the pre-parade line-up of your entry.SIGNAGE: All entries must be identified (organization\, individual\, etc.) with a banner or sign. The name on thesign must be the same as the name provided on the application.
